Organic Cold~Pressed Hemp Seed Oil Hemp seed oil at 80% has the highest percentage of essential fatty acids found in plants. It has the ideal ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 and it's structure closely resembles the skin's own lipids. Hemp seed oil also contains GLA, amino acids, potassioum, calcium, vitamin E, and is rich in Omega 9, helping to keep skin supple. Hemp seed oil contains ingredients that gives it unique anti-inflammatory properties that are not often found in other oils. Researchers from ETH Zurich and Bonn University have now established anti-inflammatory constituents in hemp oil. All of these amazing qualities make hemp oil the ideal base for the bottom balm.
Organic Cold~Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil Coconut oil skin care is a mighty first line of defense against a wide range of diseases. It has been common knowledge for several decades within the research community that it contains mostly Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) or Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA). Organic Plantain Oil (infused) Plantain has been used medicinally by Europeans for centuries. Herbals dating from the 1500's and 1600's are full of recipes and uses for plantain. It was considered to be almost a panacea and was so commonly known it is even found referenced in works by both Chaucer and Shakespeare. Plantain is very high in beta carotene (A) and calcium. It also provides ascorbic acid (C), and vitamin K. Among the more notable chemicals found in plantain are allantion, apigenin, aucubin, baicalein, linoleic acid, oleanolic acid, sorbitol, and tannin. Together these constituents are thought to give plantain mild anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antihemorrhagic, and expectorant actions. Acubin has been reported in the Journal Of Toxicology as a powerful anti-toxin. Allantoin has been proved to promote wound healing, speed up cell regeneration, and have skin~softening effects. Modern medical research is proving to uphold many of the historical uses of plantain ~ for example as a wound healer. Medicinally, plantain is astringent, demulcent, emollient, cooling, vulnerary, expectorant, antimicrobial, antiviral, antitoxin, and diuretic. Plantain is approved by the German Commission E (a sort of German "FDA" that studies and regulates herbs and herbal uses) for topical use for skin inflammations.

The oil has antiseptic properties that can help prevent infection in wounds and skin inflammations. Applying the oil to surgical wounds can help them to heal much more quickly and reduce scarring. It can be applied to the skin following radiation therapy for cancer in order to reduce inflammation.

Candelila Wax Candelilla wax comes from Euphorbia cerifera or Euphorbia antisyphilitica, named the candelilla plant. These are succulents that are harvested in Mexico, especially in the northern states of Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon and Zacatecas. They also occur in the southern states of the USA, Texas, California and Arizona. The wax is deposited on the surface of the plants, and forms a protective coat preventing excessive water loss. Candelilla plants consist largely of hydrocarbons. It has now been found that candelilla wax possess substantial vasoconstrictive activity suitable for topically treating inflammation in humans or animals. Both Candelilla wax itself and the hydrocarbon fraction have been found to be therapeutically effective in treating inflammation of the skin, including acne. In addition to treating acne, the superior vasoconstrictive activity of candelilla wax makes it an effective anti~inflammatory treatment for skin disorders and other skin allergic reactions.
Fairly~Traded Shea Butter Shea butter has been used to help heal burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, psoriasis, dandruff, and stretch marks. It also moisturizes the skin, promoting cell renewal, and increasing circulation. Shea butter also contains cinnamic acid, a substance that helps protect the skin from harmful UV rays. Shea butter is a particularly effective moisturizer because contains so many fatty acids, which are needed to retain skin moisture and elasticity. its soft, butter-like texture melts readily into the skin. Shea butter protects the skin from both environmental and free~radical damage. It contains vitamins A and E, and has demonstrated both antimicrobial and anti~inflammatory properties.
